Drawing on Lucy Railton’s recent compositions, in which the cello and electronics explore the margins between the body and its surrounding, this performance creates an ever-changing landscape in which each note evokes invisible textures and psychoacoustic states that defy linear perception. Commissioned by Semibreve in collaboration with the ICA, De Singel and the festivals CTM and Fiber, “Not a word from me” is, at the same time, a collective immersive experience comprising three elements — sound, light and image — that converge as a living, interconnected substance. Charlie Hope designs light as form and sculpture — an organism that is simultaneously shaped by and shapes the timing of the music. Rebecca Salvadori introduces images that oscillate between the intimate and the archetypal — visual fragments hinting at narratives, but not conclusions. “Not a word from me” is an encounter between three artists who share common roots and have crossed paths for over a decade, embodying expanded listening and creative interdependence.

Co-programmed with Semibreve (Braga), CTM (Berlin), ICA (London), DE SINGEL (Antwerp) and FIBER (Amsterdam)
