After the release of “Spectral Evolution” at the beginning of 2024, Rafael Toral was embraced by the world with tremendous passion and admiration. Consistent with the path he has taken throughout his career as guitarist and composer, Toral now presents another work for posterity, drawing on a singular, rigorous concept, one in which jazz standards are blown into the ether, featuring arrangements of 'God Bless the Child', 'Solitude' and 'My Funny Valentine', among others. Following its world premiere at the Venice Biennale this year, under the subtle curatorship of Caterina Barbieri, “Traveling Light” will shortly after travel to Semibreve, for one of its few live performances, together with Yaw Tembe (flügelhorn), Pedro Alves Sousa (tenor saxophone), Bruno Parrinha (clarinet), and Clara Saleiro (flute).
